Casual Future is an indie-rock band hailing from Athens, Ohio. Started as a vehicle for songwriting and performing by its guitarist and frontman Scott Spice, Casual Future has evolved into various forms over the years, at points containing members of Songs: Ohia and Southeast Engine. With inspirations drawn from Pavement, Built to Spill, and Neutral Milk Hotel the band continues to find its own place and sound in the crowded world of “indie” music. But, the band would argue their biggest influence would be the rich and diverse music community of their own Athens, Ohio. They released their first album “Footnotes in the City Lights” in early 2007 and have continued to play out as much as possible allowing them to continue to develop as a live band. Casual Future has settled into its current form which includes Spice, bassist Brian Koscho, guitarist Jacob Theobold, and drummer Gaelan Mullins in the past year and recently finished up work on their second full-length album “Glows in the Dark” (due out in Fall of2008) at Cleveland’s Zombie Proof Studios.
