The Red Stick Ramblers

The Red Stick Ramblers play a mixture of Cajun fiddle tunes, Western Swing, traditional jazz of the 1920s and 1930s alongside a steadily growing number of tradition-inspired originals. Crowned "The Great Cajun Hope" by one columnist, the upstart Ramblers garnered rave reviews in the local and national press, and were widely credited with bringing traditional Louisiana music to a new, younger audience. Based in Southern Louisiana, The Red Stick Ramblers build upon the songs of seminal fiddlers like Dennis McGee and Dewey Balfa, along with jazz and country swing bandleaders such as Bob Wills and Django Reinhardt, finding a common thread of danceable rhythms and strong, elegant melodies. On 2007's "Made In The Shade", the band's fourth album (and first for Sugar Hill Records) the Ramblers romp and stomp through a crazy-quilt of originals and classic covers with the high-octane energy that could only come from a band accustomed to keeping dance-floors jumping for hours at a time.
