Sarah White

Singer-songwriter, guitar player, and ringleader SARAH WHITE hails from Charlottesville VA, home of Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, and the world-famous Gus Burger. With influences ranging from traditional to new wave, you might catch her singing a Carter Family gospel song or doing a Blondie cover (wearing sequins and short-shorts of course) with her band the Pearls. After releasing two solo records on JAGJAGUWAR, Sarah put out her first record with the Pearls last year. The record, entitled WHITE LIGHT, has earned her compliments from another famous bandleader Dave Matthews: “Sarah’s music kills me,” he says, “beautifully from the ground up, no plastic. I got stuck behind a logging truck today. I was listening to Sarah. It was great.”

Sarah has shared the stage with such a variety of acts as Hall & Oates, Ben Folds Five, King Wilkie, the Hackensaw Boys, Lilys, Oakley Hall, and Loudoun Wainwright III.

“A delicately bare and pretty album that ensures the singer-songwriter a place in the company of Cat Power’s Chan Marshall and Edith Frost. Yep, that good.” ~San Francisco Bay Guardian
