Can you believe it? Here at Stuart's Opera House, we're busier than ever trying to make this the best festival we've ever put together. We've even found the time to make a few last minute additions to the line-up.

Those who attended their backstage show here at Stuart's back in December can attest to the power of country/folk duo the Honeycutters. They'll be back in Nelsonville once again on Saturday at this year's festival, so if you didn't manage to see them last time they were in town, you've got another chance!

Also added to the bill are the Mexican-inspired folk band Y La Bamba. Hailing from Portland, Oregon, and fronted by singer Luz Elena Mendoza, the band was recently tapped to tour with Neko Case and support their latest release, entitled Lupon.

We're excited to welcome Sgt Dunbar & The Hobo Banned, a gypsy folk collective from Albany, New York. Fans of Neutral Milk Hotel, Beirut and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros will definitely want to check out this stage-filling group of musicians when they come to the festival on Saturday.

Columbus folk rockers the Black Swans will also be joining the festivities on Saturday. The group's latest record, Don't Blame the Stars, will be released via Misra Records at the end of May.

Finally, we've injected a bit more local flavor into the proceedings with the addition of Bram Riddlebarger & His Lonesome Band, Hex Net and Matt Moore. Bram and Hex Net will be stopping by the festival on Friday, while Matt will be playing a set on Saturday.

We'll be releasing the full schedule for this weekend by the end of this week. Check back soon to start planning your stage-hopping journey through this year's Nelsonville Music Festival!

2011 - Samantha Crain and the Spikedrivers head to NMF & a Ticket Reminder! http://www.nelsonvillefest.org/blog/index.php?post_id=21 It's hard to believe, but we're just a little over a month away from this year's Nelsonville Music Festival. While the Stuart's Opera House crew is busy making preparations for the fest, we've found the time to confirm a few more acts that past festival-attendees might recognize.

We're happy to announce the return of Samantha Crain, who'll be taking the stage on Saturday this year. She'll also be stopping by the No-Fi Cabin for an unplugged acoustic set or two. Crain was one of the No-Fi favorites last year, and if you take a look at this video you'll see why.

Also returning to the festival this year are local favorites the Spikedrivers. The Columbus-based group will bring their energetic roots rock to the stage on Sunday.

2011 - Sean Lennon, Chooglin and more join the NMF http://www.nelsonvillefest.org/blog/index.php?post_id=20 We're just over 45 days away from the Nelsonville Music Festival, but we've still got plenty of surprises left to reveal before gates open! Today, we're excited to announce five more acts that will be appearing at this year's festival.

You may be unfamiliar with the group The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger, but you're sure to recognize the name of one of its core members: Sean Lennon. It's the latest project from Lennon, in collaboration with multi-instrumentalist Charlotte Kemp Muhl, who will be joining our Saturday lineup. The duo's dreamy folk music is showcased on their latest release Acoustic Sessions.

Minneapolis rockers Chooglin' will be making an appearance at the festival on Saturday. Bolstered by a blazing brass section, the group is sure to lay down some of the signature grooves which have given them a reputation as an exceptional live act.

Athens' own Flyaway Saturn will also be joining our Saturday lineup. The band prides itself in playing music that the whole family can enjoy, making them the perfect choice for any festival attendees with children in tow.

Experimental theatre group The Missoula Oblongata will be performing over the weekend. The troupe is known for its performances in unconventional venues and are sure to provide a unique experience for festival goers. Also appearing sometime during the festival will be Bill Wagner & Brett Burleson, both of Columbus rock scene veterans the Bygones.

If you've been keeping an eye on the lineup the past few weeks, you'll notice that we've quietly been adding some regional flavor to the festival. Local favorites She Bears, Wheels on Fire, Black Owls, and The Shazzbots will be appearing at various points during the weekend.

Remember that weekend and single day passes are still available on our ticketing page or by calling (740) 753-1982. As always, keep an eye on the blog for further updates!

2011 - Over the Rhine, Doug Paisley and more added to NMF lineup http://www.nelsonvillefest.org/blog/index.php?post_id=18 There's a little over two months to go until Nelsonville Music Festival 2011 officially begins, and today we've got six more bands to add to our quickly-growing lineup.

We're pleased to welcome Cincinnati's own Over the Rhine to our Sunday afternoon lineup. The husband and wife duo recently released their latest record The Long Surrender, released through their own Great Speckled Dog label.

Also joining us on Saturday and Sunday will be Canadian alt-country artist Doug Paisley. Pitchfork described his most recent release Constant Companion as a record "...full of songs that draw you in with their peaceful, easy surface and then dump a big load of hurt on you."

Athens natives Southeast Engine will be returning to the festival once again at some point during the weekend. The group is currently touring in support of their fifth LP, entitled Canary and released through the relaunched Misra Records, currently being run by drummer Leo DeLuca.

Columbus blues-rockers Mount Carmel will be playing Friday and Saturday at the fest. Fans of Derek & the Dominos, Ten Years After, and the Allman Brothers will be sure to enjoy this three-piece's take on the genre.

Saturday and Sunday, Ned Oldham & Old Calf will be taking the stage to play some of their Americana-tinged folk music. The brother of Will Oldham who is perhaps better known as Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Ned has forged his own unique musical path, differentiating himself from his sibling with his recent solo work.

Speaking of the Oldhams, frequent Bonnie 'Prince' Billy collaborator Cheyenne Marie Mize will also be joining the festival lineup on Saturday. Her solo debut Before Lately is described as "Whimsical, haunting, dreamlike folk that’s dynamic and eschews the traditional folk formulae."

One quick addendum to our previously announced schedule: Lost in the Trees will now be playing on Saturday, contrary to earlier reports that they would be appearing on Sunday.

If you haven't yet purchased your ticket's for the festival, what are you waiting for? Weekend passes are currently $70, the cheapest price you'll be finding them for prior to the fest. We also have single day passes on sale, which range in price from $50 to $65. You can find all the information you'll ever need over on our ticketing page.

We'll be announcing a few more bands between today and the festival, but with so many exciting acts confirmed, we hope you're already as excited as we are. Keep an eye on the blog for more information as the fest draws near!

Yo La Tengo, Wanda Jackson and more confirmed for Festival http://www.nelsonvillefest.org/blog/index.php?post_id=17 Another week, another slew of bands to announce for this year's edition of the Nelsonville Music Festival, but we'll get to those in a minute.

First, we'd like to let you know that effective immediately, three-day weekend passes for the Nelsonville Music Festival are $70. We've warned you that the $60 price-point was temporary, and you're still getting more musical bang for your buck than most other big-name outdoor music festivals. Don't sit on the fence, grab those passes now as the price will only continue to rise as the festival draws near!

Today we've also made single day festival passes available for those of you who only want to attend on specific days. A single day pass for Friday or Sunday will run you $50, while Saturday (our most jam-packed day of the fest) will be $65. Head over to our ticketing section to purchase single day passes!

Now that we've got that business out of the way, let's talk about today's additions to Nelsonville Music Festival's ever-expanding lineup.

First up, we're proud to announce the return of Yo La Tengo to Nelsonville, OH on Saturday night. The indie-rock legends turned in an amazing performance at Stuart's Opera House back in 2009, and we expect that their appearance at the festival this year will be equally exciting.

The self-proclaimed Queen of Rockabilly, Wanda Jackson will be taking the stage on Sunday. Jackson's storied career has been reinvigorated once again with the release of her latest record The Party Ain't Over, produced by Jack White of the White Stripes.

Folk singer and guitarist Michael Hurley will be joining us for all three days of this year's festival. Hurley's discography stretches all the way back to his 1965 release on Folkways Records, giving him plenty of material to draw from over the course of his three-day stand.

Also playing at various points during all three days of the festival will be Drakkar Sauna. Their off-beat country and folk arrangements have garnered them plenty of fans during their past appearances at the festival, making their return to Nelsonville all the more special.

Saturday will see an appearance from Baby Dee, who hails from Cleveland, OH. Her solo work finds her dabbling in Baroque pop, played on piano and harp but she is perhaps best known for her work with Antony and the Johnsons and the acclaimed British collective Current 93.

The soulful sounds of Nick Tolford & Company will grace the festival grounds on Friday and Saturday. If Tolford's recent appearance at Casa Cantina is any indication, we expect plenty of dancing to his throwback tunes.

Finally, we're happy to announce that West Virginian musical treasure Todd Burge will be providing music for our kid's area throughout the festival, as well as taking the stage on Saturday.

So there you have it, the latest additions to Nelsonville Music Festival 2011. We still have over 15 more acts left to announce so stay tuned to this blog for further dispatches!

Justin Townes Earle, Lost in the Trees and more join NMF Lineup http://www.nelsonvillefest.org/blog/index.php?post_id=16 We know you're already excited about seeing the Flaming Lips, George Jones and Neko Case at this year's edition of the Nelsonville Music Festival, but you didn't think we'd stop there, did you?

Today we're proud to announce the addition of five more acts to our ever-expanding lineup.

The first on the list is Justin Townes Earle, who will be joining us on Friday night. As the son of country rocker Steve Earle, Justin draws on his family's musical traditions, crafting earnest Americana much like that of his hero Woody Guthrie. He's currently touring in support of his latest Bloodshot Records release, Harlem River Blues.

Lost in the Trees are a folk orchestra from Chapel Hill, NC and will be gracing our stage on Sunday. Led by composer and songwriter Ari Picker, the collective signed to Anti- Records last year and recently reissued an enhanced version of their record All Alone In An Empty House.

Late Friday night, you'll be treated to the tropical sounds of Bomba Estéreo. Hailing from Bogotá, Colombia, the group has garnered plenty of praise for their enthusiastic live performances, which the New York Times have called “kaleidoscopic and danceable.”

Joining in the festivities on Saturday will be none other than Mucca Pazza, a self-termed "circus punk marching band" from Chicago. The 30-piece band is no stranger to music festivals, having performed at Lollapalooza and Rothbury in years past.

Finally, psychedelic surf rockers the Growlers will also be joining our Friday lineup. The southern California group has shared the stage with contemporaries such as Dr. Dog, The Entrance Band and NMF-alums Man Man in the past, offering a similarly vintage sound with a modern twist.

Don't forget that Athens locals Duke Junior and the Smokey Boots, Whale Zombie, Scubadog and Chris Biester are confirmed to appear at the festival this year as well.

Also, a reminder that we still have a limited number of $60 three-day festival passes available. This is the cheapest price you'll be seeing for these passes, so get them now as prices will rise as we get closer to the fest. Individual day passes will be going on sale no later than March 1st. Order your weekend passes here!

We've still got over 25 more bands to announce in the coming months, so keep checking back for more info!

Flaming Lips, Neko Case & George Jones to Headline NMF 2011 http://www.nelsonvillefest.org/blog/index.php?post_id=15 Last night at Casa Cantina, we announced the headliners for this year's edition of the Nelsonville Music Festival to a packed house. Duke Jr. and the Smokey Boots, Scubadog, Whale Zombie and Chris Biester (all of whom will be making appearances at this year's fest) provided the music for the evening. Thanks to all who came out to celebrate the good news with us! If you couldn't manage to make it out last night, here's a day-by-day breakdown of the headliners for Nelsonville Music Festival 2011.

Friday night, we'll be welcoming country music legend George Jones to the main stage. At almost 80 years old, Jones shows no signs of slowing down and is sure to deliver a set encompassing his expansive discography.

On Saturday, psychedelic rockers the Flaming Lips will close out the night. The Lips are well-known for their high energy live shows, complete with confetti cannons and costumed dancers.

Sunday evening, folk-rock songstress Neko Case will deliver the festival's final set. Case is perhaps best known for work with Canadian super-group The New Pornographers, but fans will be pleased to find that her solo material is equally as powerful.

We'll be announcing over 30 more bands in the coming months, all leading up to the festival itself on the weekend of May 13-15. We're extremely excited and we hope you are too!
